Microsoft to power the 500,000 laptops. |
Yesterday, the minister of Higher education Jean Fame Ndongo in an interview over the national radio inform the entire student niche in the country that the laptops will be distributed in instalments. He estimated that about 90,000 will be ready before December and about 100,000 by January. He added that Microsoft is working to license the mini laptops at a cost of 1,000,000 dollars. He equally told the Cameroon Radio and Television that there are other countries in need of thousands of laptop as well and Microsoft is doing its best to deliver them in instalments due to the work load.
With the Microsoft package students are free from any short commings due to lack of security access.
When interviews went down to the University of Douala, Yaounde l and ll, many students told us that they have no hopes of the proposed laptops. Others said " if they are available and there is no Mafia behind, that will be a plus. Others have high hopes while the graduating students told us that they were not more interested. The question is, will the higher education ministry award those who compiled last year but stopped schooling?
Will the higher education ministry distribute the products as planned?
The main idea behind students' minds is confidence and the exact time they will be in possession of the machines. It is clear that many are behind these machines and will do all to return home with not less than five machines. Fraud is a normal phenomenon in Cameroon's higher education. Let's wait and see the outcome.
In life, a promise is obviously a depth.
