Yesterday 23 November 2017, the world football governing body FIFA decided to class national teams according to how impressive countries tend to perform on the green turf. It is unbelievable that Nigeria who was ranked 5th in the last African rankings and 41st in the world rankings but this week, the same Nigeria according to FIFA is ranked 8th in Africa and dropping 9 places, occupying the 50th place after gaining a premiere place during the WC Russia 2018 without a single defeat. During the last FIFA international friendlies, Nigeria trashed Argentina 4-2 but that didn't mean anything to FIFA. Lagos and many Nigerian states got this information like a joke but it ended a reality. Nigeria is aiming high to bring back the world cup to Africa after building back a once scattered national team that could not qualify for the 2017 nations cup in Gabon is now making a new meaning in both Africa and in its recent friendlies.
FIFA rank teams based on the number of points of points, participations in international competitions, friendlies and wins within a particular time i.e in one,two or three months period of a football season. This may still be a question to many soccer supporters but it is what FIFA does. Next month December shall withness no FIFA rankings because of no football calendar attributed to this month.

Here are the top 10 FIFA world rankings of the month; 1.Germany 2. Brazil 3.Portugal 4. Argentina 5.Belgium 6. Spain 7.Poland 8.Switzerland 9. France 10. Chile.
Top 10 African rankings of the month; 1.Senegal 2. Tunisia 3. Egypt 4. Congo DR 5. Morocco 6. Burkina Faso 7. Cameroon 8. Nigeria 9. Ghana 10. Côte d'ivoire.
The Nigerian fans are vexed and young supporters place the blame on FIFA yelling that even Cameroon, Argentina and Algeria can testify their strength. Senegal is on the 23rd place in the world and 1st in Africa, no doubt these guys merit more than that.
A country like England are nowhere to be found, but have qualified for the FIFA 2018 while Italy who didn't qualify are placed before them. What of Holland and the other football power houses who didn't appear among the first 20?
What of the North American giant who didn't qualify for Russia 2018 is still a fat question in the United states. After all football is evolving and nations are growing as well. Let's wait for a big surprise next year in Russia.
