World Trade Organisation Essay Award for Young Economists

The World Trade Organisation is calling on young Economists to submit their work  for 2018 world trade organisation Essay before the 1st of June, 2018. The aim of the award is to increase international trade cooperation and trade policy, strengthening links between the WTO and the academic milieu.

Selection

The academic panel will select the striking Essay. The panel is made up of a team of professors and a Doctor.
Three doctors from Princeton University, Dartmouth College, INCAE Business school and Dr Robert Koopman who is the director of WTO research and statistics division, Dr Roberta P who is the Chief of world trade's cost Analysis section.

Who can apply

Your Essay must be centered on international trade cooperation and trade policy. The author(s) must posses or are engaged in a PhD or have completed the PhD two years ago. Your essay should not exceed 15,000 words.

Prize

A prize of  CHF 5,000 awaits the author(s) of the winning essay. In case of a co-authored Essay, the price will be divided among the authors. The winner will be announced in September in Warsaw, Poland during the annual European Trade Group meeting.

Cameroon: Nexttel Mobile Money to be Launched soon (UBA/Nexttel)

The Cameroon's third communication giant Nexttel is almost at completion to launch Nexttel Mobile money. The decision was made public on the 13th March 2018 by BEAC's governor Abbas M. Tolli authorising the United Bank For Africa to carry out mobile money services in Cameroon with Viettel brand Nextell in Cameroon.

 BEAC, the Bank for Central African States, controls the financial transactions and approval of Banking decisions finally urged UBA the go ahead to launch the services as it benefits those who do not belong to any financial institution in Cameroon. UBA Cameroon once applied for this offer back in March, 2017.

 The bank governor reiterated that UBA can still quit the decision. For the past years, MTN and Orange Cameroon have been dominating the mobile money market in the country while Nexttel was busy concentrated on its communication section only.

As a new or the youngest network in the country, they have gathered the time and energy to join the others in the mobile money services. Due to the flexibility of the service, there are more than 30,000 electronic money service points across the CEMAC zone with Cameroon having over 70% subscribers.

Cameroon's Former Minister Basile A. Kouna Denied a Narrow Escape from the Country.

Basile A. Kouna was the Cameroon's Minister of Water and Energy who was recently ousted from his position last two weeks with other Ministers. He has been the minister since December, 2009 and he owes to remain in his home country Cameroon for special investigations which are recently underway.

Local News in Cameroon says that Basile A. tried to quite the country on the 7th March using the Turkish Airlines but the security stopped him.
The minister of Water and Energy's travel documents were seized from him a few days to cabinet reshuffle. The minister didn't hesitate to abandon office for Gaston Eloundou. E.
On the 8th of March, 2018 the General delegation for National security signed a document and geared the information to ensure that the exit from the country is taken care of for anyone who owes an investigation especially the aforementioned name and the General Manager of Camtel.

According to all commanders in all exits in the country from the three international Airports, the 10 regional land exit ways are taking all measures to bar not only Basile but other ministers, secretaries of state and managers of state corporations in the country for budgetary reasons.

Cases of mismanagement of public funds has been alarming in Cameroon for the past 10 years where heads or directors, Ministers, Secretaries of state and Contractors are always on a struggle for a narrow escape.
The question is how can the problem of embezzlement ＄£￦¥ be solved in Cameroon?
